COVID-19 Special Update: Our Response

Dear Felix Family,  We hope you are safe and sound despite the uncertainty we are all feeling right now. I’m writing to share a few updates to The Felix Organization’s operations resulting from COVID-19. As you know, The CDC and DOH are limiting gatherings of over 50 people in order to “flatten the curve” and reduce further spread of the illness. As a result, we have to postpone Dance This Way to a date TBD. Some good news: As of now, we are planning for Camp Felix to be in operation this summer. This summer, kids will need camp more than ever! We hope that the country will be back in gear by then, so we are proceeding with our camp planning. Dance This Way is postponed but our cause is not! What can we do now? Because our mission to support youth in foster care is always at the forefront of what we do, effective immediately we will be creating The Felix Emergency Relief Fund for our children and families impacted by COVID-19. School closures and gaps in pay for workers have a dire impact on low-income youth, which represents over 90% of the children Felix serves. We have begun outreach to our partner organizations to pinpoint the most critical needs. So far, we’ve been asked for funds for several food-insecure families, art supplies for girls in one of the group homes and laptops for youth to continue their educations. Toward this end, we are keeping the Dance This Way campaign online, and funds will support Camp Felix as well as our emergency relief fund. People are looking for ways to help!

If you already have a Dance This Way fundraiser, please continue to reach out to your network -funds will go to The Felix Emergency Relief Fund as well as Camp Felix. If you haven’t already, please start your fundraising page at www.dancethisway.org, and let others know they can help!We will continue to accept donations on our website at www.thefelixorganization.org, via Paypal at felixorganization@gmail.com and by check to The Felix Organization, 43 Oyster Bay Rd. Locust Valley, NY 11560. We are so grateful to you for always stepping up for the Felix kids. We hope that in the coming days you will take special care of your own families and practice self-care as well.  Together, we will get through this!  Warm regards, Amanda
