Volunteer Opportunities
Cards for Kids
In this activity, volunteers will write a caring and supportive card to a child in foster care. They will write a positive and encouraging message to show the child that they care, and that there is someone out there who is pulling for them in this tough time.We would love about 50 to 100 cards (or as many as you can do!), and they can be home-made or pretty greeting cards with a blank inside to be customized by the volunteer. We can try to get first names so the cards can be personalized, but it’s actually best if they are general and say “Dear Felix Camper” so that we have the most flexibility to give them out to children as needed.
Skate This Way
A day of skating and fun for 150 children in the foster care system of NYC. Children are bussed to Wollman Rink where they get to try out ice skating for the first time, get hands on instruction, enjoy some great food and sweet treats and leave with a stocked goody bag! Volunteers support the kids in going through the activity and get to join the kids on the ice if they wish!

Thanksgiving Feast-i-val
An annual tradition where we serve 100 foster youth a delicious meal while they enjoy music, dancing, face painting, art projects and giveaways. Volunteers serve food, help with setup and breakdown, hang out with the kids and even jump on our open mic!
Career Day
At The Felix Organization, we believe you cannot be what you cannot see. We partner with companies to create meaningful job shadow and career day experiences for Felix kids, giving them direct exposure to a wide range of professional pathways. This past year, we proudly partnered with the Tapestry Foundation to host a job shadow day with Coach employees, allowing our youth to learn firsthand about careers in fashion, design, marketing, and corporate operations.
We are actively seeking new corporate partners who are excited to inspire the next generation and help us expand the scope and impact of these career exploration experiences.
