This page is dedicated to sharing job opportunities, free workshops, events, and much more for youth in foster care and aging out.
WRITING FOR REPRESENT
We are looking for young people involved in foster care (ages 15-23) who want to tell stories that will make a difference—for your friends, and for adults who work with young people.
It will be remote and you will be compensated $175 per published article.

Your work is first published for thousands of readers through our digital magazines. From time to time, stories are also reprinted by partners like Chalkbeat and Youth Today, or in lessons and curricula published by Youth Communication and other companies. Teachers and counselors also use them in their classes and groups. They are even used in programs to train adults to be better teachers and counselors. Over time, your story could help inform and inspire people you never imagined.
The Mott Street Scholarship Program
The Mott Street Scholarship Program serves talented students who have persevered through foster care or homelessness and who are educationally and emotionally ready for college.
This program is specifically for young people applying to the University of Mount Saint Vincent (UMSV) to help them achieve their academic goals with robust financial, housing, and personal support.
​​Below is the list of instructions for applying:

Students apply to the college as traditional students and check the box that says Mott Scholar.

It's also flagged on their FAFSA application when a student signs off as an Orphan Student or if they were ever in Foster Care.

Students also may talk about their situation in their personal statements (e.g., mentioning eviction).

Their Mott Program Committee reviews the application. Legal documentation is required for verification.

Students are interviewed by their counselors to make sure they are ready for college.

There is year-round housing

Students are required to take one loan a year ($5K) as their commitment to the program. Loans don't have to be paid back until after graduation.

After graduation, students receive a $5K grant, which can be used towards their loans or a down payment on an apartment.

Books and a laptop are covered, and food is provided year-round (we teach them how to budget).

The Bronx County Family Court Teen Day 2026 will take place on Friday, November 13, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Bronx Family Courthouse (900 Sheridan Avenue, Bronx, NY). This event connects youth directly with community and government agencies to bridge the gap into independent living. Attendees will gain access to stable housing and supportive living programs, alongside educational paths spanning college access, financial aid, and vocational training. To boost career readiness, the event provides face-to-face networking for employment opportunities, paid internships, and resume building. Wrapped in a highly motivational and hopeful environment, teens will also discover vital family resources, healthcare networks, mentorship, and legal advocacy tailored specifically to support their transition out of foster care.
THE ANIMATION PROJECT

TAP's partners at Museum of the Moving Image invite YOU to apply for their Teen Council program.
Teen Council is a PAID workforce development program for high school students. Participants meet twice a week from November through May and explore the moving image through an extensive curriculum led by Senior Educator, Kieran Huang, along with local and international guest artists who join the program throughout the year.
Participants collaborate to create a public program and organize the Teen Film Festival, where New York City teens showcase their films.

THE POSSIBILITY PROJECT
The Possibility Project utilizes the power of narrative and the performing arts to empower young people with the tools to transform their lives and their communities.
Our young people commit to meeting for six to seven hours weekly over the course of nine months to engage in a social/emotional learning experience that uses the performing arts to examine and address the personal and social forces that shape their lives and identities.
Join Breath-Body-Mind™ sessions to learn gentle, science-based exercises that help reduce stress and build resilience. These classes are free to all New Yorkers and accessible through Zoom.
SUNY University Center for Academic and Workforce Development
At SUNY UCAWD, they create access to opportunity by giving New York State tuition-free programs that help eliminate barriers to education.
FOSTER GREATNESS:
A lived experience-led platform
Foster Greatness is the only digital community platform built entirely by and for people impacted by foster care. Unlike traditional services that end at 18, we provide lifelong peer support, career opportunities, and resources—because we know the foster system's impact doesn't stop when you age out.

Bronx Lacrosse
Bronx Lacrosse is a FREE year-round youth development organization offering young people in the Bronx the opportunity to learn and play lacrosse!
​
Participants enjoy biweekly lacrosse practice, competitive games, tournaments, weekend enrichment trips, and clinics to compete against top-level talent and get seen by college recruiters.
In addition to Lacrosse training, participants receive academic mentorship and tutoring.
​
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year.
Muzology

Muzology uses fun music videos to help children learn and remember math for a lifetime of STEM success.

This program is recommended for students in grades 4-8.
